Pushkin's Bakery
Pushkin's Bakery opened last week, serving baked goods that are both gluten-free and dairy-free. Dairy-free doesn't necessarily mean vegan, of course, but they do offer a few vegan options every day, with the glass bakery case clearly indicating which items are vegan.
I stopped in last Wednesday and bought one of every vegan item offered that day: a Vegan Chocolate Vanilla Cupcake, a Vegan Chocolate Banana Peanut Butter Cupcake, and a mini-loaf of Vegan Banana Bread. It's become very easy to find vegan cupcakes in Sacramento, but I don't think I'd had banana bread since I went vegan ten-and-a-half years ago. I know, I know -- there are probably lots of good recipes out there and I could have made my own, but I just don't bake much. So it was the banana bread at Pushkin's Bakery that really made my day. In fact, I liked it so much that I went back the next day to buy two more mini-loafs. While I was at it, I bought two mini-loafs of the zucchini bread they offered that day, which was also very good.
Pushkin's Bakery is located at 1820 29th Street, between R and S, and their phone number is 916-376-7752. Their webpage address is www.pushkinsbakery.com, and their Facebook page can be found at https://www.facebook.com/PushkinsBakery?fref=ts. Their hours are listed as Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. However, if you follow them on Twitter, you'll receive tweets on the days that they open early.

[ Chuckles ] You were able to get your hands on vegan pastries; lucky you!
It's becoming easier to find vegan pastries in Sacramento. Being a vegan is much less difficult now than it was when I made the switch to a plant-based diet ten-and-a-half years ago.
