So many fun places to shop, so few remaining shopping days before Christmas! East Sacramento has a bevy of interesting, locally-owned stores to explore.
I know a lot of people were unhappy about the closure of William Glen in Town & Country Village a couple of years ago. So you'll be happy to know that the children of William Glen have opened Christmas & Company at the Pavilions on Fair Oaks Boulevard, offering a nice selection of Christmas decorations and Department 56 Village pieces. They also have a Christmas & Company store in old Sacramento.
If you just have to shop at a mall this holiday season, why not make it the 57th Street Antique Mall? Antique stores are on both sides of 57th Street, and you might be able to find the perfect one-of-a-kind gift there for someone on your holiday shopping list.
My friend Bonnie has been telling me about Western Feed & Pet Supply for years, and when I went to check it out, I saw all kinds of potential gift ideas for pet owners and bird watchers. There are toys to delight even the most finicky pet, and pet football jerseys to match their owners' NFL team preferences. There's also a nice selection of bird feeders, and the store sells bird feed in bulk. Western Feed & Pet Supply is a locally-owned business with stores in Carmichael, Orangevale, East Sacramento, Folsom, Roseville, and Gold River. They plan to open a store in Davis soon.
I hardly ever pass up the opportunity to stop in for lunch at the always vegan-friendly Star Ginger when I'm in East Sacramento. I highly recommend the Ginger Sesame Tofu Salad!
