Bambi Vegan Tacos

I’ve been hearing for a few weeks about Bambi Vegan Tacos from friends who frequent the Oak Park Farmers Market. A food truck devoted exclusively to serving vegan tacos – can you imagine?! Today, I finally had a chance to check it out myself.

The menu listed three different types of tacos, as well as a taquito plate. After taking forever to make up my mind, I finally settled on the barbacoa taquito plate, since it came with guacamole. I had overheard the woman taking the orders telling another customer that the “meat” in the taquitos was made from mushrooms and jackfruit, which sounded good to me. And it was good! Served with spicy crema slaw, in addition to the guacamole, the taquitos really hit the spot.

I ran into a few fellow vegans there, including Meghan, who hadn’t yet taken a bite of her tacos. Thanks for letting me photograph your chorizo and potato taco, Meghan! Mostly hidden under the paper in the container is a crispy Bambi taco.

The Bambi Vegan Tacos food truck can be found at the Oak Park Farmers Market in McClatchy Park on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and at the U.C. Davis Med Center Farmers Market on Wednesdays from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. They also serve food from time to time at B-Side and Old Ironsides. Their website address is https://www.bambivegantacos.com/, but you may also want to follow them on Instagram to see where they’ll be next.
